Above Average Food in a Terrible Atmosphere.
Having received some very positive recommendations from friends, I made a reservation at Cafe Aspen to celebrate my wife's birthday. Despite informing the staff of the occasion and requesting an intimate table when I made the reservation, my wife's birthday was never acknowledged and we were plopped in a table right next to a family with children. The atmosphere is cold and uninviting with the laminate top tables more suitable for a cheap coffee shop. The wait staff and kitchen rushed us through our meal, setting a poor tone when the calamari appetizer came out less than five minutes after we placed our order. The food was above average and adequately priced for the quality. Portion sizes are fine with the exception of dessert. We had the bourbon buttermilk fudge cake, which is far too small to share. Don't waste your time or money at Cafe Aspen.

Not a great 1st time experience, but nice service.
The Good: salmon fillet, nice waitress. The Bad: Had to wait for hostess longer than usual, did not get my dressing on the side as asked, out of lemonade so mgmt made their own recipe and it was too tart, quiche lorraine is supposed to be ham & cheese but it was different, tortilla soup very spicy and heavy. For 3, total bill was $55, but overall it was not enjoyable. They should have taken drinks off and been more emphatic to fix mistakes (dressing), they were not.
