Tips for Olive Garden

Nice Lunch Place. Nice ambiance, if you can stand the music, Perry Como from the '60's. Still, a nice, relatively quiet placefor lunch. We usually get the soup & salad, which are great. Exceptional service, even to reheating soup & fixing our drinks to go. Handy location & wonderful staff.

Salty.... It has been a while since I went to Olive Garden, the last time in 2007, on S. Hulen and 820, where the food was just excellent. This time, 25-Jan-10, I went to Olive Garden at 183, close to the Ridmar Mall, to take out: spaghetti and meat balls, mussels di Napoli. My son had the spaghetti and commented that they were a bit soggy, definitely not “al dente”. I had the mussels and I must say that the sauce was overly salty. The bread sticks that came with the food also were salty to the point that we trashed them. Nevertheless, yesterday (2-Feb-10) my son again had a craving for spaghetti and meatballs, from the same Olive Garden. No change to the above. I had calamari appetizers which were O.K. The breadsticks went, after a bite, straight into the trash: way too salty again. I find it amazing that with all the concerns about healthy food, restaurants still are using such an amount of salt.

Traditional dishes and all -you-can-eat salad, soup and bread sticks are the draw at this upscale-casual Italian restaurant.. In Short
Established in 1982, this chain gained a following for its laid-back atmosphere and generous portions. Patrons settle into comfortable booths and tables in dining rooms with plants, artwork and décor reminiscient of the villas in the Tuscan countryside. Starters include scampi, sausage or pepperoni pizza, and several soup choices, as well as a signature seafood dip (crab, shrimp, cheese and marinara). Entrees include classics like lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo and chicken parmigiana. There are also "Garden Fare" options, which promise 30 percent fewer calories.
