Great Food. Casual Atmosphere.. Do not give any credence to any review using "BBQ", we're in Texas yall. The "barbecue" at Railhead is consistently excellent. The casual atmosphere makes for a great place to meet friends and grab a meal and a beer.

For the Salt Lover.... Today, with my daughter and her kids visiting, we elected to take out some BBQ from Railhead, ?the? BBQ place in Fort Worth. We had a BBQ sandwich and a pound of ribs. The sandwich was kinda O.K. but the ribs were unbelieavably salty. I ate two of them? the rest went to our dogs. What a disappointment. If you don?t like salt, and lots of it, don?t go to Railhead?

Excellent Ribs. Ordered the brisket plate with beans and potato salad, 2 lbs of ribs, 1 pint each of beans and potato salad.

The ribs were excellent except for a few dry end pieces. The brisket looked extremely most and tender when they were plating, but after tasting the meat seemed bland and dry. The potato salad was okay, and the beans just weren't my style.

I would definitely come back for the ribs only.

Not my type of BBQ. I will admit I am not from Texas. I am from St. Louis and prefer a different type of BBQ than Railhead offers. So, the main thrust of this review is to ensure those who prefer St. Louis Style BBQ or Memphis Style BBQ are not disappointed by going to Railhead and thinking that is what you are going to get here. I have gone to Railhead three to four times with co-workers for lunch; most often on the Thursday "Rib Day" for the special. The main reason that I did not like Railhead is the BBQ they serve ends up tough, overcooked, and dry. Not what I am used to. I prefer what is served up at Red Hot & Blue.

Bring on the Mauls!

Ignorant Reviews.... To the guy who wrote "overrated" on 9/30/07 you don't know what real bbq should taste like...that's probably why you found it to be dry and for your comment on "Rudy's in Austin, good for you, you're not from here!

Railhead BBQ is the best! Learn to appreciate!

Order the Ribs!!!. I was a regular of this restaurant for many years, and my recommendation would be the ribs. The brisket can be a dry if not in the chopped form. But seriously, back to the ribs, thats what Railhead is synonymous with. Now that I live in San Antonio I have longing dreams of these succulent morsels :) . The pit has always doled out top notch ribs. Also, get an order of the fries with fried onions (papas con cebollas!), a little different but delicious. All around, a great place to meet and eat.

Overrated. Honestly we couldn't have been more disappointed. We went there at lunch time on a Saturday. There was quite a crowd which seemed like a good sign, but when we got our food, the brisket was dry. The only saving grace was the barbecue sauce, but even it paled next to Rudy's in Austin.

Best BBQ in Fort Worth. The BBQ is the star here - ribs are super, brisket is tender and other meats are good. Do not come here if you want a salad. The thing that pushes Railhead over the other great Fort Worth BBQ places is the fries - they are greasy, but really good. Large schooners of ice cold beer are the perfect beverage. Go early to lunch, lines can be long. One downside is no table service, but its a BBQ joint, so what do you expect!

Part college hangout and part family restaurant, this spot is most popular for juicy barbecue.. In Short
TCU students love the bar; families at laminated tables love the casual sprawl and everybody loves hanging out at one of Cowtown's best places for beef. This isn't a steakhouse so much as a spiffy barbecue place--somewhere between a sawdust bar and a ranch replete with patios. The serving line pushes regulars through the choices, including juicy, tangy slaw that pushes napkins to lips. The bar is good for a casual Wednesday night hang.
