Illinois-based drugstore chain serves neighborhoods with fully stocked stores and modern amenities..
In Short
Founded in 1901 in Chicago by Charles R. Walgreen Sr., this neighborhood pharmacy has grown to be one of the nation's largest drugstore chains. Each store carries 25,000 different items--from cleaning products to electronics and greeting cards. Store features include a computerized system connecting pharmacies nationwide via satellite, grocery-store food aisles, one-hour photofinishing and an automated phone system for prescription refills and pre-arranged pickup times. Other services include in-store flu shots and childhood immunizations.
Worst experience ever! I am never going back!. I had just gotten finished taking my 6mth old baby to the doctor and was given a prescription that needed to be filled that night. Since it was getting late, i decided to use the drive-thru pharmacy. There was one other person there in the first drive-thru lane, so i went to the second drive-thru lane and dropped my RX in the container and sent it through. As i waited, i closed my eyes and i think i fell asleep for a little while waiting. When i opened my eyes, i realized that i had been waiting for a long time and saw that the first car was still there also. I pushed the call button and after awhile someone greeted me and said that they'll be right with me. So i waited. But after waiting for another 10 minutes, I rang the call button again. Someone finally answered and said, "can you guys just come in?" At that point, i was pretty upset because if i had known that i wouldn't be helped at the drive-thru, I wouldn't have used it in the first place. Another thing was it was a cold night and i had a sick baby sleeping in her carseat and i REALLY didn't want to have to get her out and wake her up. I asked them if they could just send my Rx back through so i could go somewhere else. After being ignored, i finally drove through, parked, got my baby out and went in. There was a line at the pharmacy. There were two people working in the pharmacy, a white lady and an asian man. The white lady looked completely lost and seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. I walked up to the counter and told them that i had been waiting in the drive-thru and i just wanted my daughter's prescription back so i could go somewhere else. The lady was very rude and said that i had to wait in line. She seemed really flustered and out of place. I told her to please just give me my prescription back. She ignored me. The manager finally came out and i told him what i wanted and he handed it back to me and i walked out of that Walgreen's and i NEVER will go back EVER again!
