GROSS... gross gross gross! A couple of years ago this theater took pride in it's appearance and food quality. This USED to be the BEST theater in town! My husband and I quit going to Movie Tavern (off hulen) just for this Studio Movie Grill in Arlington and have loved this place for years. HOWEVER, over the last two years this place has gone down hill. The food, particular their ribs, comes out cold and sometimes undercooked! Sometimes the "warm freshly made cookies" come out cold or burnt. Oh and don't bother complaining to the manager because they don't seem to care either and their whole team got the memo! The carpet now has a disgusting smell. It's a musky/mildew-ish like odor that you are forced to inhale while you are eating your food. DISGUSTING. Well, my husband and I have had enough! We are going to try the new Movie Tavern at West 7th St. in downtown Fort Worth. We've head it is vvvvery clean! I'll soon see for myself, and will post a review very soon..
Not the place to see a 3D movie. Movie times were incorrect.
Friday night, my husband, daughter and I showed up at SMG to see the 5:15pm Soul Surfer. There was no 5:15pm Soul Surfer. Fandango, Moviefone and SMG website all listed a 5:15 showing of Soul Surfer.
We ended up seeing Rio in 3D because it was showing at 5:15pm.
It is very difficult to see your food with 3D glasses on. I would not suggest eating while watching a 3D movie.
With that said, my first pair of glasses were filthy and the lenses had a ring of haze around them. It was very difficult to see out of them. I gave them to an employee and told her that they were dirty and I couldn't see out of them, so she handed me another pair of dirty, hazed glasses. I went back to my table and tried to clean them so that I could see out of them, but couldn't.
I got up and went to another employee. I explained to him that this was my 2nd pair of glasses and they are dirty and hazed, could he please get me a new pair. He returned with a 3rd pair of dirty, hazed glasses. I gave up and vow to never again see another 3D movie at SMG. I actually will probably never go back.
Double Check That You Get YOUR Credit Card Back!.
I went to this location today to see the movie the A Team but I missed most of the ending due to the server giving me someone else's credit card back in the payment basket!!
Once I found the server, a few rows back, I alerted her to the fact that she gave me someone else's credit card and I demanded to see the manager.
I showed the manager the credit card the server had given me and told him how concerned I was about people's credit card security being that identity theft is a growing problem in this country.
I expected him to tell the server she needed to be more careful about this but instead he just shrugged it off and his employee (and others around her) just had a good laugh at my expense!
I was made to look like a fool for doing the right thing!!
After the movie I asked around inside the theater and found the woman whose card they had given me. I alerted her to this fact, and to the attitude of the manager and the server, and am contacting the corporate office in the morning as well.
I will NOT return to this location!
BEWARE - if you use this location please carefully look over the credit card they return to you in the payment basket as it might NOT be yours. Someone else might have yours. You may end up the victim of identty theft due to carelessness, plain and simple!!
"It's Not Our Policy to Let You Reserve Seats??". If you want to sit with your family, don't go to the Studio Movie Grill. I'm a 44 year old mother of daughters who are away at college. During their winter break, we went to the movies, as a family, for my niece's 18th birthday. My husband and I arrived 1st and purchased 8 tickets. I went into the theatre to reserve our seats, all 8 of them. After all, 8 tickets allot for 8 seats. Right? I even picked 8 seats on the very front row so we could ALL sit together. My husband stood in the lobby to hand out tickets to each arriving movie goer in our party. 4 of the 6 arrived within 5 minutes of me saving our seats. So, we were only missing 2 of the 8. Within 5 minutes of the movie previews to start, an usher comes in and tells me that I can't save seats. Even though my niece and her boyfriend were on their way in (parking at the Arlington theatre means you are parking down by the Pet Store or Staples down the strip)...I spoke to the manager and he gave me back my money. He forfeited movie tickets and dinner for 8 so that 3 high school students could sit together in the seats I saved that I bought tickets for??? He gave me back my $60.75...my party of 8 drove 3 miles down the street and bought tickets to the same movie for 8 for $48.00 at the Movie Tavern. We saved almost $13. And Movie Tavern was very accommodating and ensured that we would have a great family night. I sent an e-mail to the owner, VP of SMG...they called me back and said "their policy is to not let you reserve seats." So, the moral of the story is, if you and your family arrive at the movies at separate times, don't go to Studio Movie Grill. You may not get to sit with your guests. And its nice to know that SMG is doing so well in our economy that they can turn away business. Movie Tavern gets my money now!!!
Ex Employee / Voluntarly Quit. This review is a little different then most. It is from an employee stand point and directed mostly towards people considering working at this particular location. First of all, I never filled out an application. I just sent my resume through email. I was called back and they did not even have my resume on file. So I was asked to just briefly tell about my past jobs. Then I got the job offer on the spot. Second, they are having a lot of problems with their employee's (go figure! that's what happens when they don't require an application) On my first day I was given a shirt that was size 4XL and my shirt size is Small. So I was required to walk around in a shirt that drowned my body. I had guests of SMG pointing and laughing. The management is STRICT but at the same time they are completely unorganized and unprofessional. So while they are cracking down on the employee's, the problem really is with the management. It is a mess up there.
Comfortable way to watch a movie!. We've been twice now and are going again today. No, the service is not the same as a restaurant, but it's different. The Chairs are comfortable; the food is good, and, while we waited a while for drinks the first time, it didn't happen the second time around. It can be a little slow, but we found it fun, entertaining, and a great, comfortable way to go to the movies!
Food service. I have to wonder why that customer keeps going back! I've been 4 or 5 times (we go to matinees to avoid crowds) and I haven't had any problems with food service. My friend gets the chicken tenders and I always get those deicious cheese quesadillas. I don't expect the same service that I would get in a restaurant, because all of those movie theaters have a lot more customers than a restaurant. My only beef with SMG is that the mixed drinks are outrageously expensive. But hey, no big deal. Keep up the good work!
Worst customer service I have ever experienced consistently.
This is my first review here. I just had to let others know how horrible the customer service is at this location. We were invited to the Pre-opening, everything was free and it was totally packed. Service was absolutely horrible that night but we assumed it was because it was their "trial run" night. We were excited about going back in a few weeks to try it out again. We have been back 4 times. Each and every time we consistently had horrible, horrible service. But, after yesterday's experience, I just had to let others know what they can expect when you go to this particular location.
When you arrive, expect to wait about 20 minutes before finally just getting up, going and locating an employee and asking them if they can please help you. It has been this way all four times that we have gone. When you place your drink order, expect it to take a minimum of 15-20 minutes to get JUST your drinks. I would advise asking for a refill as soon as they bring the drinks. When our drinks got to our table, I told the lady, (who was not the lady who took our order) that we ordered Diet Pepsi, not regular. She informed me again that what she brought was Pepsi. I had to literally tell her we do not drink regular and we wanted diet. She left withought saying a word and we waited another 15 minutes before the original lady who took our order showed up and we told her and waited about another 10 minutes before she showed up with our drinks. We ordered our food and when another lady brought it out, 30 minutes later, she rolled her eyes and stormed off when we mentioned one of the items she brought was not what we ordered. The original waitress took care of it but we waited over an hour before we got it. Mind you it was only chips & queso. We finally just started walking to the bar ourselves to get our cokes refilled. What is really confusing is that the theater was not even half full. Anyway, I think from now on, we will just eat before hand and just go to a regular theater.
Arlington movie theater features first-run movies and full-serivce menu with pizza, burgers, quesadillas and more..
Patrons fill the theaters as waiters take orders. Seating is comfortable and if the order is made in time, food will arrive before the movie begins. By signalling the servers, refills and other requests are met throughout the show. Expect the bill to arive about 40 minutes before the end of the movie. The primarily American menu offers burgers and pizza, as well as a few alternative options, such as the coconut shrimp basket.
