I will take my cozy regular bars any day over this one. Not Impressed..I rarely get to go out being a mom. Last night I was invited by my sister in law to go to see the Spazmatics because we both love 80's music. We also had heard all kinds of great things about the place. We got there at 930pm, and had to wait in a long line with it still being 100 degrees outside. DO NOT WEAR HEALS. I had read on the website you are not permitted to wear flip flops so since we were having a girls night I dressed up with the heals and all. Unless you have a VIP/Reserved over priced membership you will not find anywhere to sit. Upstairs is not available without it, and the entire middle of the club and ground seating is all reserved only. There are few little tables and you have to be there in seconds to get it. You can sit outside, but not good if you are in TEXAS hello and it is still 100 degrees when it's dark. So I had my shoes off in 15 min of being there. The beers for a Miller light were 5.00 each and I don't think I have paid that much for one beer in my life. After 1030 I had to wait 30 min to get through the crowd to the bar. And unless you are VIP no waitresses will help you. I must say the snooty gold digger crowd was amusing. Other then that and the awesome band I was not impressed and will not be going back. The only thing I would recommend is the band.
Most original nightclub/bar I have been to in Dallas. Great place...I was surprised how incredible the view was...good-looking staff! Have not seen this many good-looking people in Dallas since I have been to the Glass Cactus, the staff is also very down-to-earth- not like other bars and clubs I have been to in Dallas. I had a problem, but when I notified one of the VIP concierge..I think her name was Roya..? (HOT!), she got a manager and immediately they fixed the problem. I will be back for my next round of fun when I return back to Dallas for business!
Fun place. It is an over the top but fun place. Much like the entire Gaylord hotel. It is giant Texas sized big and they do a good job with it. I had a great time there.
Totally Average place with ridiculous attitude. This place thinks its in Beverly Hills or something! If it were, it would be out of business. If you are a country bumbkin thats never left the state, youmight think its cool. If you have been to LA or New York this place will make you laugh the moment you arrive and pay 20 bucks to valet even though there is no shortage of land for parking-ripoff!
RIP OFF. Got there at 5 for a meeting at the hotel food was lousy service was slow. than they wanted a cover I told them that we were here just for a drink then a meeting at the hotel they demanded the cover so we left went to the hotel got everyone together(about 30 of us) went to down town grapevine had a blast will never go back!
One of a kind. Very unique and impressive place built overlooking Lake Grapevine. The view and the building are the best part. You definitely are helping to pay for the fancy building and the view every time you buy a drink. I would say it is worth checking out and you will quickly ave your own opinion. I am not in love with it but it is a fun place to check out every once in a while to do something different. Definitely a nice amenity for those staying at the Gaylord, but I would also recommend to those people to make the short trip over to historic Main Street in Grapevine and check out some of the places over there.
You have got ot be kidding! This place is a joke, STAY AWAY!!!. First impression, parking; of course the hired valets utilize the close by parking for their conveniance... STRIKE ONE. Then the POS "ID Taker"; " we have to check all id's" he grabs our licenses and then scans them into a scanner, uh, EXCUSE ME, privacy!, Why does the GC need our personal information? they DON'T, Strike TWO.Then we walk in as "VIP Guests" (Our party of 6 reserved a table, min $100 per couple had to be spent). We are "escorted" though the fairly nice lobby once the hostess felt like it was time to take us to our "barnlike "table. Stepping on a dirty, sticky floor into a large high school auditoriuom we could tell very quickly that this JOKE of a place was not anything that it is cracked up to be. STRIKE THREE (We have been there for 6 minutes) Then the $250.00 bottle of vodka, the pain continues. Drinks that could not be made to our liking by a very inexperienced hostess and a crowd that was circus-like to put it mildly. This is NOT a NY club, this is not a SOBE club. This place is simply an overpriced joke of a wannabe that will never be. Low class, cheesy, overpriced, dirty, obnoxious. It is a wonder that ANYONE patronages this establishment.
Price Gouging,Tab Padding, Flaky Waitresses.
We have been to the Cactus about 10 times over the last year. The atmosphere is really nice & it is really close to home for us. HOWEVER, the PRICE GOUGING is unbelievable! I am really just ticked about the whole flipping thing! Whether we are with a large group, double dating or by ourselves-it happens time & time again. The price of drinks varies from waitress to waitress, bartender to bartender - WE MADE A GAME OF IT - testing to see if in fact it was really happening. We involved several of the party with us, went station to station-waitress to waitress.... You would have been amazed at the differences.
True Example: Waitress#1=$8.00 bottled beer, Bartender #1=$5.50, Waitress#2=$7.50, Bartender#2=$5.00
You would not believe the variety of prices we got for SHOTS (same shot, ordered the same way everytime)
We do have ONE exception: Bartender at the 1st bar on the RIGHT as you pass thru entrance. He wears a hat. He did not over price things, he made eye contact, was attentive, cordial etc.
The WORST was the bartenders in the back bar & the outside bar - DON'T even get me started on the waitresses - YIKES!!!! BEST ADVICE: "DO NOT RUN A TAB WITH WAITRESS" ***VERY bad idea***
PROS: Great Ambiance - Le Freak is the best (get there early) - Texas Unlimited is great too
Bartender (wears hat) at 1st station was the better of the employees.
Great place for everything.
I stayed at the Gaylord for a four day convention. I have to say just driving up to the property was amazing. The landscaping and attention to detail was something like you would see at Sea World or Disney. The entrance, lobby, resturants, courtyard... all were amazing. They really put a lot of time and money into this place and it really shows. Checkin was very easy. I was given a key card to a room that someone was in already. The staff was very empathetic and very quick to upgrade me to a suite.
The Staff must have had some customer service training as a requirement because they were all so helpful and nice. I went to the sports bar (fantastic by the way with all the tv screens) one night and was ordering drinks at the bar with some friends and we went back the next night and the bar tender must have remembered my name off of my tab and immediately greeted me "Welcome back Mr. Smith"
Everything from the Glass Cactus, to the cigar bar with an on hand cigar specialist, this was the best place I have ever stayed at.
I want to go back with my family..... Thanks to all the staff of the Gaylord for making a great experience..
Bouncer saw road house too many times. This place is beautiful, but the bouncers are idiots. i am Hispanic. never been arrested or had anything to do with green stuff (i know hard to believe, but true) the bouncers smelled something green coming from these white kids a few feet from us and the wind was blowing our was and the stupid bouncers came strait to the big Mexican guy, ME... Im 33 years old i didn't smell like green stuff or had any on me, but i still got kicked out. the 1.99 an hour rent a cops "bouncers" are the only reason i will not go back there. patron shot are over 30 bucks.but i had 3 of them over priced shots. the last time i was kicked out of a place, i was in collage.
