Worth flying to Dallas for.... My husband is a Texas native now living in Maryland, and we often visit Texas. We discovered Diego's by accident on our way out of Dallas a few years ago, and always stop after coming from and driving to DFW. Everything we have tried was terrific-this year the tortilla soup with avocado and chicken was a hit-and service is always excellent.
Consistently good tex-mex. Diego's is one the best tex-mex places in the areas (which isn't hard because Mexican food in the area has gone really down hill). However the food is way above average, except the rice and beans. They're not bad, but somewhat of an afterthough, nothing special there. Try the sour cream enchiladas or tamales and you won't be disappointed. The chips and salsa are pretty good too.
Great food. I disagree with cb750 - we love Diego's - better than Christine's. We've always had good service and the food is freshly made, including their salsa - which is awesome. It's not Uncle Julio's or Christines or any of those brightly lit, decorated other places. Just good food and excellent desserts. Medium prices. We've been there for lunch numerous times - around $20-25 for 2. Dinner for 4, with drinks was around $80.
Highly RECOMMEND....great food and excellent service!. I personally LOVE this place! I've met the Manager/Owner and staff, and they are all wonderful, top notch individuals . The food is ALL made from scratch which is one of the qualities that puts their food above other Tex-Mex restaurants such as Cristina's. Great place to meet after work!
Terrible service, bad attitudes, bland food, go to Christina's instead. Since I work nearby and it is convenient, I've tried very hard to like this place. It would be a great place to meet after work but the service is HORRIBLE! The food isn't good either, but I could tolerate it if the atmosphere was more inviting. They absolutely do not value their customers. It's the only Tex-Mex restaraunt I know of that charges for chips & salsa while you're buying their overpriced drinks. Go to Christina's instead.
