Response to Much Better Out There

I live 3 hours from the closest Bikram studio and am moving to DFW area next Spring. I am looking for a home studio to prepare for teacher training in about 18 months. I will be checking out Grapevine this next weekend. I try to maintain a home practice but it is very expensive (heating bills!!) and much, much less effective so from my perspective any studio is better than no studio. I have practiced in 7 different Bikram studios and each one is very different depending on the personality, resources and perspective of the owner. My first studio was run by one of Bikram's most senior teachers and it was like living with Spartan warriors. Very intense and I learned the most there than anywhere because the focus is on the yoga not the amenities and whether or not someone is stroking your ego. Yes, we all love the niceties and friendly people and being called out for a amazing standing bow but sometimes these lovely things get in the way of achieving the purpose: detoxing your mind and body, building your character, meditation, etc. Not posting the instructor's names: try to think about why this is such a peeve of yours. You may be able to develop some insight and improve your yoga practice. As for me, I love a new or different instructor (even a novice) because even though it is the same dialogue, the instructors are all different in tone, tempo, emphasis, etc and are thus able to teach you differently. Many times I find the instructors with whom I am familiar SAY something but I only HEAR it from the new guy/gal. So, IMHO, what you need to look for in a yoga studio is the yoga. Period. Fortunately, you will find this in any Bikram studio with teachers who have strong dialogue. Guaranteed. Unless, of course, you get distracted by stuff. Good luck in your new studio but, seriously, try a new perspective that will let you practice successfully anywhere. Namaste.

I LOVE BYG I recently moved back home to weatherford and considered going back to BY in Fort Worth... nope. The positive energy just doesn't flow like it does here 0:) Last night Minh stayed after to teach me headstands and other advanced poses. The atmosphere& encouraging smiling faces that won't forget your name are all there as soon as you step into the door (CARMEN!)
Best workout, best energy, best studio.

I cannot say enough good things about this studio. I have been practicing here for over 7 years, and there are numerous reasons I keep coming back week after week. The teachers, the other students, the sweat, the best workout in town, the energy, the love, the stretching, the mental clarity, and of course all the benefits outside that yoga room. I am strong, confident, and proud. All because I stare into that mirror for 90 minutes and give it my all. The teachers are so motivating, and they ensure that every posture is done using the correct form to avoid injury. If you have an issue, they work with you and tell you exactly how far to go into a posture. They are so knowledgeable about the body and how this yoga can truly help EVERYbody. I love you, BYG!
- Pros: every teacher is amazing and motivating
- Cons: nothing at all
Love it! Love it! Love it!

I have spread the word about Bikram Yoga Grapevine to all my co-workers, family and friends. I've even taken several guests with me to the studio to try it out and believe me, if you had told me two years ago I'd be into yoga, I would have rolled off my "couch potato" couch and laughed hard. I have had the opportunity to visit several different studios during my travels and hands down, BYG is the best. Why? Because of the PEOPLE that work there! They are always supportive and make sure you are not "anonymous" from the very first moment you arrive. I needed that kind of accountability and now, when I'm in class, I want to do well for the teacher. I feel like they are all "rooting" for me and I cherish every "atta girl" I get! They are loyal to the Bikram script (which I appreciate and miss when I travel to other studios) but they aren't militant about it...and that is something you'll understand once you visit this particular studio. All my guests that have gone to BYG have commented on what a nice studio it is and how welcomed they felt. The teachers are extremely well-trained and create a very upbeat attitude.....good karma all around! I would highly recommend it if you are in the DFW area.
- Pros: The People
- Cons: Your own mind---- it can defeat you if you let it!

After my wife discovered Bikram Yoga Grapevine in October 08 she invited me to try it as some different, complete and challenging exercise; and in deed Bikram Yoga is all that and more!
At Bikram Yoga Grapevine you stretch every single part of your body at the same time you benefit your mind and soul. Bikram yoga is the best physical activity you can do for yourself; regardless or your fitness level.
We enjoy going to Bikram Yoga Grapevine studio because there is a lot of good energy in this place. The students, staff -Carmen ;-)- and specially the teachers (all of them!) are always friendly, supportive and encouraging. We had gone to other studios while we are out of town; and even we are glad to get a class in other cities and countries we are always very happy to go back to our studio Bikram Yoga Grapevine -The best-.
Try it you will like it!

- Pros: Great Place, Excellent Students, Staff & Teachers
