Great shakes ... cold service.
They have a great variety of shakes and other ice cream creations and between 2-4 the shakes are half price. Yet unless your getting one of their burger, and one chicken, $4 value meaIs the food is a little high for the quality your getting.
The drive through usually takes longer than it should, but they are much friendlier and generally will let you know it will be a little bit & apologize for the wait. Going inside is when I have major issues. Once you get your meal the wait staff is generally through with you ... regardless if you know need a refill or plan on ordering deserts or shakes for after your meal. And its worse if you have younger kids at your table ... It took 2-3 different occasions of going and mentioning to management our issues with the disappearing waitstaff to start getting mildly better service ... I'll take the slow drive through over the lack of service indoors.

1950s diner fries up fast-food classics 24 hours a day..
In Short
Entering the clean, bright interior is like stepping into an "Archie" comic book. Hurrying across white- and black-checkered floors, staff in crisp white shirts and paper hats take orders, polish chrome and shuffle between booths and the full-service counter. Middle-American diner standards dominate the menu--pickle-covered steak burgers, chili cheeseburgers and thick shakes. Healthier options include chicken, chef and taco salads.

Good Food, High Prices.
I'm a vegetarian as of 2 yrs ago, but before that I used to go to Steak n Shake every once in a while. The burgers are great, the milkshakes are thick and made the old fashioned way with real icecream and the french fries are delicious. You're paying a pretty penny for your food considering its fast food, but the quality of the food is good and worth it. Enjoy.
